BCAB S.A.: Advancing Climate Action Through Sustainable Finance

Through its partnership with the African Development Bank under the PEAPPJF programme, the bank equips youth and women with vocational, agro-pastoral, and climate-adaptation skills while expanding access to agricultural credit, mobile banking, and advisory services. As a key partner bank in the World Bank-supported PRETE project, BCAB strengthens MSMEs by expanding access to finance, sustainable production infrastructure, and capacity building, with targeted inclusion for women, refugees, and job creators. To ensure institutional accountability, BCAB’s dedicated Climate Officer has undergone ESMS training for responsible project implementation. Through climate-aware financing, including the nationwide Twese Kw’Itongo facility, we provide farmers, cooperatives, and livestock keepers with seasonal loans for seeds, inputs, and equipment structured for post-harvest repayment. This facility accelerates climate adaptation by funding drought-tolerant seeds, improved land management, and timely planting, directly boosting agricultural productivity, food security, and community resilience against severe weather shocks. On the mitigation front, BCAB finances FOMI’s organo-mineral fertilizer production to actively reduce land degradation, restore soil health, and secure sustainable crop yields. Complementary tree-planting and zero-waste initiatives further minimize ecological impacts and strengthen local ecosystem resilience. Technical assistance, flexible repayment structures, and direct market linkages empower women, youth, and rural producers to build diversified, climate-resilient livelihoods. Rigorous ongoing monitoring ensures that every funded initiative adheres to robust ESG principles, mitigating environmental risk while maximizing social equity.
